About

Marcos Ross is an Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter whose biggest fascination is the human experience. Us humans are able to feel, think, learn, and do so much. We are part of a world full of other people and beings, natural wonders, questions and explanations that sometimes feels so heavy – and sometimes feels like anything is possible. Marcos’ music and other artistic endeavours (photography, videography) express this in an honest and deep way, creating a unique world in the process. Marcos is a storyteller and he is not afraid to experiment with different genres to tell his stories.

He was born in Madrid in 1995 to a Spanish father and an American mother and has a younger brother. Piano was his first introduction to music and then transitioned into Spanish and electric guitar. In 2018 he began writing his own songs and found inspiration from a variety of artists such as Mac Miller, John Mayer, Jorge Drexler, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Rosalia. Marcos also aligns his artistic interests with life in academia. He did a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and two master’s degrees, one in Neurosciences and another in Philosophy of Neuroscience. He is currently working on a PhD degree at the Amsterdam UMC, studying the relationship between stress, mental health and cardio metabolic health.

After releasing singles such as Something We’ll Do and Let it Be?he released his first album: This Human LifeIn it, he opens up and shares a journey that, although personal, it is also a reflection on experiences that we all might resonate with. He recently released a new single – Come Back Home – an immersive song that marks the beginning of a new and exciting direction. Led by deep bass, jungle-like drums, and supported by a captivating voice, it’s a song to drift away with. Dive into Marcos’ music here.
